PERSIA DEFEATED

Today in West Civ. class we got the long class which was cut short by a few minutes since it was an extended advisory bell. The day did not seem as long as others however maybe it was because the movie got more interesting who knows, but I enjoyed it. We learned about why the Marathon was as long as it is and how it originated and also that a man ran 140 miles to get the message to Sparta, but the Spartans rejected him saying too bad we do not care and we will protect ourselves if we need to. Also we learned on how the fierce Athenians held back and defeated the Great Persian Empire which was very vast too. We learned that this did not just happen once, but it happened twice! The Persians had been outsmarted and defeated, but the man that led the Athenians was said to have been gaining too much power so he was ostracized from the city and died in exile.
